Professional Staff Members

C. Ross Betts, MD

Dr. Betts attended Vanderbilt University in Tennessee earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He then attended medical school at the University of Michigan. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota. He fulfilled his Nephrology Fellowship at Washington University.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine as well as Nephrology. He and his wife have lived in western Pennsylvania for the past 30 years and they have five children.

David Brooker, MD

Dr. Brooker attended college at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After working as a research chemist for 3 years at Merck, Sharp & Dohme in Rathway, New Jersey, he attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, New Jersey. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Nephrology. He has been a practicing Nephrologist northwest Pennsylvania since 1997. He has hospital appointments at UPMC Northwest, Clarion Hospital, and Titusville Area Hospital. He lives in the Oil City area and has 4 children.

A. Roy Shamir, MD

Dr. Shamir graduated medical school from Kasturba Medical College, in India. He worked at Father Mullers Medical College (India) prior to relocating to Baltimore, Maryland for his Internal Medicine Residency at Good Samaritan Hospital. After completing his training in nephrology as a fellow at UPMC, Pittsburgh, he worked in private practice in Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana. He moved back to Pittsburgh and joined our practice in 2019. In his spare time, Roy enjoys traveling, ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, international movies and music. He lives in the Mars area with his wife and 2 sons.

Smitha Thomas-Mathew, MD

Dr. Thomas earned her bachelors in biology from Philadelphia University. She then attended St. George's University School of Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree. She completed her Nephrology Fellowship at Temple University in 2014. She is certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Thomas completed her internal medical residency at Drexel University/ Hanneman University Hospital in Philadelphia. She joined Northern Tier Nephrology in August 2014. Dr. Thomas lives in Wexford with her husband, daughter and son.

Ashley L Clark, MSN, CRNP, FNP-C

Ashley attended Clarion University completing her Associates Degree in Nursing in 2008. She did return to Clarion University receiving her Bachelor's degree in 2011. Ashley worked in the emergency department at Clarion Hospital before completing a Master's degree in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2016. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has been working as a nurse Practitioner in the Clarion area since 2016.

Lori J Griffith, CRNP

Lori attended nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and worked as a Registered Nurse in burn trauma, neonatal ICU, and cardiothoracic ICU. She earned her Masters degree from Carlow University and is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She worked in pulmonary/critical care medicine for over 7 years before joining Coordinated Kidney Care in May 2018. Lori was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and currently resides in Oakmont Pennsylvania.

Kenneth A Hile, CRNP

Adam attended Clarion University completing his Associates Degree in Nursing in 2010. Continuing his education, he returned to Clarion University to complete a Bachelor's degree in 2018. Adam worked in dialysis for 12 years prior to completing a Master's degree in Nursing from Pennsylvania Western University in 2023. He is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center of Nurse Practitioners.

Pam Kapustik, RD LDN

Pam received her BS degree in Nutrition/Dietetics as Kent State University. She is licensed and registered with the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She recently joined Coordinated Kidney Care after 8 years as the Corporate Manager of Renal Nutrition for the American Renal Associates. Pam's 20+ years of experience with kidney disease patients is a welcome accompaniment to our practice. She resides in Sarver with her loving husband and has 1 son.

Stephenie Swisher, CRNP

Stephenie originally joined NTN in 2007. She earned her BSN at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She worked as a registered nurse in Trauma ICU, Burn Unit and Department of Gastroenterology at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She continued her education earning her Master of Science in Nursing from University of Pittsburgh and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Stephenie resides in Gibsonia with her husband and 2 children. She recently re-joined the CKC Group and is our CKD workshop instructor.

Clinical Support Staff

Our Kittanning and Butler Office:

Rebecca: "I've worked with Dr. Betts and American Renal Association for the last 22 years. I recently accepted the Office Manager position for both Butler and Kittanning. I enjoy golfing with my husband, and spending time with my 3 beautiful daughters and Jackson Milligan."

Lisa: "I have been married to my husband, Todd, for 29 years. We have 4 daughters and 5 grandsons. I graduated from The Medical Billing and Coding course at Butler County Community College in 2013. I joined CKCG in 2013 as a Receptionist and was promoted to Billing Manager in 2016. I love spending time with my family and being "Nan" to my grandsons."

Sommer: "I have been married to my husband, Evan, since 2015 and we have 2 sons, and 1 beautiful baby Nessa girl. I joined CKCG in December of 2016 as a Billing Specialist. I enjoy decorating my house and spending time with my family."

Autumn: "I was recently hired to join the front office team. I have been happily married to my best friend-David for the past 27 years. We have raised our two grown boys together. We enjoy sports, traveling, many outdoor activities and now focus on raising our families fur babies."

Suzanne: "I've spent the last 17+ years working as a dialysis technician. I recently accepted the front office position with Dr. Betts and his practice. I am happily married with 1 daughter, 1 son and 2 beautiful grandbabies."

Our New Castle Office:

Rhonda “I worked for Dr. Wasim Ahmed for 20+ years prior to joining Coordinated Kidney Care Group last fall. I am happily married and have 2 grown sons. I am incredibly blessed to have 2 beautiful grandbabies. I enjoy hanging out at home with Rosie my English Bulldog.

Veronica “I am a mother of 1 great 26 year old son. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling and Rodeo photography. I worked for Dr. Ahmed for 2 ½ years before joining CKC Office Staff. Prior to that I’ve worked in the medical/nephrology field for 26 years.

Our Clarion and Cranberry Office:

Bonnie: "I have been with Dr. Brooker for 6 years. I have been his receptionist and biller during this time. I have been in the medical field for 20 years, including hospital and SNF billing. I graduated with honors from DuBois Business College with a Associate Degree in Administrative Medical Assistant. I am married to Greg and we have 2 daughters, Katie and Nicole and 1 son-in law, Caleb."

Joe: "I have worked for Coordinated Kidney Care Group since early 2020. I serve as office manager for the Clarion and Oil City locations. In addition to my administrative duties, I help Ashley with coordinating our education programs and assist in the transitioning to dialysis for our patients. I also support front office functions as needed. I am currently pursing a Master's degree in Health Care Administration."
